Universal
has formally announced details of the eagerly-awaited
Heroes - Season One - Part One DVD box set, which will be released
on October the 1st.
The set will feature the first eleven
episodes of the series, which is currently making waves on BBC2. The set
will contain an unseen seventy-three minute version of the Pilot
episode, which features a "never-seen-before" character. This will be
accompanied by a commentary track by series creator Tim Kring.
The episodes will be presented in "16:9"
format, with a choice of Dolby Digital 2.0 stereo or 5.1 surround audio.
The four-disc set will also feature
thirty-four deleted scenes; a Making of Heroes featurette; and a
look at the series Special Effects.
RRP for the set is £34.99.
The second half of the season, and a
complete box set, is scheduled for December the 10th. A full-season
HD
DVD version is also expected.
4DVD
will release the first series of the award-winning satirical black comedy
series
Suburban Shootout on September the 10th.
The show, which featured I'm Alan
Partridge's Felicity Montagu, Jane Eyre's Ruth Wilson, Four
Weddings and A Funeral's Anna Chancellor, Amelia Bullmore and The
Office's Ralph Inneson, was nominated for a BAFTA award, and as Best
New TV Comedy at the British Comedy Awards.
The set will feature all eight episodes of
the series, as well as a behind the scenes documentary; "commentaries" by
cast and crew; cast biographies and a series two teaser trailer.
The RRP is £19.99. Series two starts on
Five on September the 6th.
HBO
Video will release the second - and last - series of Rome on DVD on
September the 10th.
The five-disc set will feature all ten
episodes of the series, which recently finished airing on BBC2. (The
second series is two episodes shorter than the first).
The episodes will presumably be presented
in their original anamorphic 1.78:1 format. The press release notes that
they will have Dolby Digital 5.1 audio.
Rome - The Complete Second Series will feature audio commentaries
on episodes 13, 15, 19, 20 and 22, and more than two hours of bonus
features: A Tale of Two Romes (20m approx); Antony and Cleopatra
(20m approx); The Rise of Octavian: Rome's First Emperor (20m
approx); and The Making of Rome - Season 2 (25m approx).
HBO Video did a spectacular job with the
first DVD set, so here's hoping that the second is just as good!
The set has an RRP of £49.99. A box set
containing Seasons One And Two will be released in October, with an RRP of
£69.99.

Nucleus
Films will release a two-hour compilation of
Grindhouse Trailer Classics on DVD on September the 24th.
The collection of fifty-five trailers was
created by genre expert Marc Morris and Razor Blade Smile director
Jake West. It promises "an outrageous orgy of wanton sex, gratuitous
violence, dangerous drug abuse and devastating destruction, all played out
by a parade of perverts, freaks, monsters, killers, voluptuous vixens and
charismatic gun-toting heroes".
The disc will also offer a bonus
featurette, Bump 'n' Grind, exploring the history of Grindhouse
cinema, written by Stephen Thrower, author of the recently-published guide
to the genre, Nightmare USA - The Untold Story of the Exploitation
Independents, and presented by Pervirella hottie Emily Booth.
The disc will feature exclusive artwork by illustrator Graham Humphreys,
the artist behind various iconic horror movie posters, including the
stunning UK art for Evil Dead II and A Nightmare on Elm Street.
The disc will also offer a Grindhouse Poster Art Gallery, and trailers for
other Nucleus releases.
The trailers will be presented in
anamorphic 1.85:1 format, with Dolby Digital audio and optional English
subtitles.
RRP for the disc us £14.99.
Fremantle Media will release highlights
from the formative sketch show
We
Know Where You Live on DVD on September the 3rd.
The show assembled a remarkable cast,
including Simpn Pegg, Fiona Allen, Sanjeev Bhasjar, Amanda Holden and Ella
Kenion.
RRP for the disc, titled We Know Where
You Live Remix, is £15.99.
Universal
Pictures UK will release the recent remake of classic thriller
The
Hitcher on DVD on October the 1st.
The film, was produced by Michael Bay and
directed by Dave Meyers. It stars Sean Bean in the psychopathic role
formerly played by Rutger Hauer, pitting himself against a young couple,
played by One Tree Hill's Sophia Bush and Zachary Knighton.
The film will be presented in 2.40:1
anamorphic widescreen format, with Dolby Digital 5.1 audio.
Bonus features will include deleted scenes,
Fuel In Your Ear: The Making of The Hitcher; Chronicles of a
Killer; Dead End; and Road Kill: The Ultimate Car Crash.
RRP for the disc is £15.99
Metrodome will offer last year's
Strangers With Candy movie spin-off on DVD on September the 10th.
The disc will feature deleted scenes, and
has an RRP of £12.99. Apparently the disc will not feature the commentary
track or the music video contained on the US disc.
Fremantle will release the third and final
season of
Count Duckula on DVD on September the 3rd.
The two-disc set will feature twenty
episodes of the Cosgrave Hall animated show, which featured the vocal
talents of David Jason.
A number of Optimum titles have been
re-scheduled. New dates have been added to their Incoming records:
