School pupils discover that their teachers are alien beings.

The Faculty answers the question: “What would you get if you crossed the director of From Dusk Till Dawn with the writer of Scream…and Dawson’s Creek?” It also confirms what every schoolchild secretly suspected: that their teachers – any grown up, in fact – are from another planet. You can pretty much imagine how the film unfolds, and you can guess the tone of the film by its 15 certificate, but that doesn’t stop the movie from being very entertaining. It’s helped enormously by a handful of interesting adult performers in supporting roles (notably Terminator 2’s Robert Patrick as the athletics coach and Goldeneye’s Famke Jannsen), and a cut-and-paste score by Scream’s Marco Beltrami.

The disc is a strictly no-frills version, but offers an ambitious Dolby 5.1 sound mix and, thanks to a 16:9-enhanced 1.85:1 transfer, sharp and clean visuals.
